I am really pleased to be able to let you know that my Garter Lace Cowl, Scarf and Wrist Warmers Knitting Pattern is now available in my Ravelry or Etsy stores from the 23rd February.
Why choose Garter Lace Cowl, Scarf and Wrist Warmers Knitting Pattern?

These are warm and pretty accessories combining the comforting feel of a luxurious yarn with a glamorous vintage appearance, just perfect if you're in need of lightweight pieces that are eye catching and easy to use with a variety of indoor and outdoor outfits for the changeable weather we get as winter gradually eases into spring.

The easy, meditative repeats of the simple 8 row garter stitch pattern and the use of short rows for shaping make this a perfect first lace project for those who love the look of shapely lace knit accessories but haven’t been confident to venture in that direction yet. More confident knitters will find this a great TV/craft group make that doesn’t demand of all your attention.

It's not a difficult make although newer lace knitters may like to use a lifeline for reassurance if not confident to pick up any dropped yarn overs.

I worked up the cowl and cuffs sample in West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite 4ply in Chantilly (010), a lovely wool silk blend which felt delightful and was a perfect balance of drapey and good stitch definition, It needed opening up a little though and after blocking around a cup overnight it looked exactly as I'd hoped! It was a bit nerve-wracking but I think knitted lace often looks a bit scruffy until it's blocked.

The scarf is worked in Drops Alpaca with a neutral cream as main colour and stripes of pistachio and strawberry ice-cream and is really warm. This was a great way to use up yarn leftover from the Florina Cutaway Poncho sample. I think matching a good amount of main colour and lots of different yarns for the contrasts could also work well. It could make a great dent in your stash of pretty yarn scraps!
You can also make the items in other yarn weights, adjusting the width of the garter stitch flat section and number of repeats to get the piece the size you want. helpful information for how to do that are in the pattern. How about a chunky winter version or delicate linen one for summer. Holding the yarn with a strand of mohair laceweight could look really pretty too!

The scarf is a multiway type one, with a flat panel and a wide flared edge, allowing it to be worn in all sorts of ways. Check out the blog post for my crocheted Clarion Multiway Scarf for styling ideas.
