If you're looking to knit and crochet for the Christmas season, I have a few patterns you may find handy:
Charmed Garland: Perfect to knit and crochet for the Christmas season
Throughout 2024 we've been having a fun free monthly make-along for mailing list subscribers to make a knitted or crocheted Christmas Garland one piece per month and now, for those of you who don't want to wait for the remaining patterns to be published, prefer a downloadable file or don't want to join the mailing list, I've uploaded the full patterns on Ravelry and Etsy. Follow the links below to get your copy!
Vivid Bauble Ornament
The bauble tree ornament is a really fun, fast and colourful project for those wanting handmade decorations for their home during the festive season. It has two filling options to suit your preference and is also easy to adapt.
The customisation section at the end of the pattern has plenty of ideas to ensure your bauble is enjoyable to make and looks unique. You could make a matching set or a fun collection of baubles to use up your yarn scraps.Get the pattern on: (Ravelry / Etsy)
Planter Cowl
My knitted planter cowl pattern is available on Ravelry and looks great in red around the pot of a poinsettia (my favourite Christmas decoration!) or how about working it up in blue, white and purple to match a winter hyacinth arrangement? Add a toning ribbon with a bow to the eyelets or perhaps an i-cord for a softer look and your plants will be ready for the festive season.
Mini Wreath Ornament
Did you get a copy of my Day at the Beach Bag pattern on Ravelry or Etsy when it launched recently? If so, you may like to work up the charm included in the pattern in the colours of a cheery Christmas wreath. Instructions for this are included in the "Make it your own" section of the pattern and then you could simply add a loop of yarn or ribbon to the top to hang it on your tree.
Flower Garland
My flower garland pattern is free on my blog and is a really speedy make, so if you're thinking about quick Christmas decorations, it's perfect for you.
Worked up with three strands of aran/worsted yarn, it's easy to combine a few colours for a familiar seasonal palette (top photo); to match your home's colour scheme (right); or in an unusual combination for an eye-catching garland over your fireplace/staircase/window/tree or swirled around place settings and serving dishes on the table for your celebration meal. What colours would you choose?
Textured Tinsel Trees
The pattern for Fragrant Fir Tree Sachets is now available from my Ravelry Store and on Etsy. Inspired by snowy pines in classic Christmas card scenes, I created this little knitted tree in green and white initially and then saw its potential as a cheery tinsel clad Christmas tree.
It's a perfect scrap yan project if you have small amounts of lots of different colours and textured yarns could be a fun addition too as long as they are approximately the same weight as the main colour yarn. Decorating our tree is one of my favourite Christmas moments each year and I think others feel the same as it quickly became my most enquired after pattern so far!
