After creating patterns for the Vivid Picnic and Winter Collection I came up with a design for Cycle Hemet Ear Warmers.

The ear warmers are a really handy cold weather accessory. The flexibility of the V-stitch allows it to pull on over the helmet strap easily. It’s also easy to adapt for length to suit how you wear your straps and there is a customisation section at the end of the pattern with ideas to help you make a truly unique item that reflects your personal style.

I loved creating parts of this collection live during my livestreams on Twitch. The easy pattern let me chat with viewers and I was also able to create clips of some steps, so you'll find links in the pattern for parts where a visual aid could help.

Sizes: Two sizes provided: Small (Large) and easily adjustable for individual helmet straps. You will need the length and width of the triangular arrangement of straps at the side of the helmet inclusive of the straps.

Tension: 5.5 V-sts x 10 rows = 10cm x 10cm / 4” x 4”.

Working method: crocheted in the round from bottom up. Optional upper edging added at end.

Finished measurements
a. Strap width: 11 (14)cm/4 ¼ (5 ½)”
b. Length inc slst edge: 11 (14)cm/4 ¼ (5 ½)”.
Scalloped edge adds 2.5cm/1”

Requirements
Aran/worsted wool/alpaca type yarn in each of 2 shades:
C1 20-25m/20-30yds (Drops Nepal 1101as sample);
C2 15-20m/20-25yds (Drops Alaska 62 as sample)
4.5mm (US 7) hook
3 lockable stitch markers
Yarn needle and scissors
2 buttons that will fit between your V sts. The ones in the sample are 18mm / 5/8” but if your yarn is less stretchy you may need smaller ones.

I sometimes add extra resources for my patterns, e.g. new yarn or adaptation suggestions or helpful video clips as updates on my original blog post for the release, so consider checking it out here.

This listing is for a crochet pattern with directions to make the item as described or with the customisation suggestions included in the pattern. It is intended to be used by someone who can already crochet basic stitches and knows how to use the tools and materials listed in a safe manner. It does not teach the user how to crochet, e.g. how to work the stitches or how to use yarncraft materials and tools safely. All the instructions should be followed carefully to produce the item as described. In purchasing and/or using the pattern the purchaser/maker takes responsibility for making and using the item in a safe manner.
